This webinar is part of the interdisciplinary research project LiOness, based in northern Chile, which examines the geopolitics of lithium through the concept of “off-sites.”
This concept, developed by anthropologist Marina Weinberg, refers to spaces beyond extraction sites where the circulation of materials, infrastructures, and environmental and social impacts unfolds.
By combining social and natural sciences, the speakers will explore how lithium extraction reshapes territories and everyday life, particularly in regions such as the Atacama Desert and coastal areas. The presentation will offer a critical perspective on energy transition dynamics, highlighting uneven impacts, territorial conflicts, and situated forms of knowledge, while connecting local experiences to global processes of resource governance.
Note : The webinar will be recorded and made publicly available on YouTube and the BhA website. The Q&A session will not be made public.
